“Fenix Rising” Shiraz (2005)
This is a complex wine made from grapes which ripened extremely quickly at the end of April 2005. This resulted in higher alcohol levels than usual, giving the wine a fullness and fruit sweetness.
The resulting wine was aged in French Oak barrels, giving a “pencil shaving” character with balanced oak tannins. This will give the wine an excellent ageing potential. Plum fruits, and ripe boysenberry characters with a touch of spice and pepper explode on the nose and palate.
It has been made as a wine to accompany food and will compliment most meats, cheeses and spicy dishes.
This wine won a coveted Blue-Gold and Top 100 Award at the Sydney International Wine Show in 2009, an award backing up its synergy with food.
It is a wine which reflects the season, made only from grapes from Mount Cole WineWorks shiraz vineyard.
The previous reserve wine from this vineyard was awarded two trophies in wine shows.
