Mixed ½ Dozen

Purchase a mixed half dozen to get a taste for some of our award winning wines. The mixed half dozen contains 2 bottles of each of the following wines.

2 “Fenix Rising” Shiraz 2005

This is a complex wine made from grapes which ripened extremely quickly at the end of April 2005. This resulted in higher alcohol levels than usual, giving the wine a fullness and fruit sweetness. The resulting wine was aged in French Oak barrels, giving a “pencil shaving” character with balanced oak tannins. This will give the wine an excellent ageing potential. Plum fruits, and ripe boysenberry characters with a touch of spice and pepper explode on the nose and palate.

It has been made as a wine to accompany food and will compliment most meats, cheeses and spicy dishes. It is a wine which reflects the season, made only from grapes from Mount Cole WineWorks shiraz vineyard. The previous reserve wine from this vineyard was awarded two trophies in wine shows.

2 “Off the Beaten Track” Shiraz (2004)

Mid garnet with deep purple hues, the 2004 Shiraz from Mt Cole exhibits lush, rich ripe aromas of blackberries, fruitcake, roasted meats and just a feint whiff of violets that is very appealing. The medium-bodied palate displays great texture and weight, with dark fruits, spice and toasty oak all coming to the fore. The structure is firm and full with ample tannins, and the palate very long.

Tasting notes

This wine has been a “Snow White” of a wine. Now awakening after a 2 year sleep it is displaying chocolate, and berry characters on the nose and palate balanced by blackberry fruits and fine French oak. It just needs an oenophile to breath it to its new life.

The grapes for this wine were picked in the middle of March 2006. It has an alcohol content of 13.5%. It is under screw cap, ensuring a long life and an untainted future. Ideal to cellar for 10 - 15 years.
