The Blue House is a one bedroom cottage located on a sweeping rural property with open paddocks and acres of vines. It is easily accessible from Melbourne, being only 2 hours (190km) from the city centre. Ararat is the nearest town, which is a 15 minute drive away (20km).
The Blue House offers an affordable opportunity to experience the absolute peace and seclusion of rural Victoria, without going too rustic on the accommodation. Well away from the busy highways and towns, and even away from the property owner's homestead and studio/ gallery, this is a one and only guest cottage so you will be guaranteed to have the hills to yourselves. But if you need some other diversions, we are not far from the Pyrenees Wineries, the Grampians and the fabulous attractions at Ararat.
In a former life The Blue House was a country Post Office building. It now stands newly renovated as a neat, self-contained country retreat for two, in a secluded corner of a large rural property.
Features
The cottage consists of a lounge room with wood fire, a galley kitchenette and a bedroom with an ensuite. Polished floors and fresh new appointments provide a comfortable, modern environment. The verandah wraps around to a carport. The views from the windows and verandah look up across the peaceful valley, over vineyards to surrounding hills. Nearby State Parks offer well marked walking tracks, hang gliding sites and an abundance of native birdlife and animals, such as kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas.
The accommodation features two main rooms; a bedroom with queen size bed and a lounge room with a wood fire, two seater settee, sound system, reverse cycle heater/ air conditioner. A television and video can be provided on request. There is also an ensuite and separate kitchenette.
The kitchenette has a full size fridge/ freezer, microwave and a bench top stove. A gas barbecue is located in the carport.
Dining: A welcoming cheese platter and complimentary wines (2 bottles) are there to welcome you. Some basic condiments are available, but bring your own food.
Dining Options: Self cater using the barbecue and kitchen or dine in Ararat (15 mins) at the renowned Vines Café and Restaurant or popular Italian / Lebanese restaurant Sicilian's. The Blue Pyrenees winery (30 mins) offer weekend lunches.
